The Journey Costumes

Youth Conference Clothing

We recommend each person attending THE JOURNEY have two Book of Mormon outfits.

The outfits will be worn over jeans and shirts.

Make sure you have good walking/hiking shoes.

The outfits may be as simple as the NO SEW one below or more elaborate, but please do not place a financial burden on your family to provide the costume. Also, remember that you are CAMPING, and long or billowy costumes may be detrimental to your safety and enjoyment.

The least expensive material we have located can be found at:
Home Fabric (southwest corner for $2.00 fabric)
73 West 7200 South, SLC

Design Company (a whole room of $2.00 fabric)
2253 South 500 East, SLC

The NPS Store
1775 West 1500 South, SLC

Benina-Nuttall Fabric
52 East Pages Lane, Centerville

Wal-Mart’s fabric section
Centerville

Brooks Fabric (basement)
220 North Main, Bountiful

No Sew Costume:

2 yards of material 45 inches wide. Use medium weight cotton or cotton blend.

Cut fabric into 2 LONG pieces. Each piece should measure 2 yards long and about 22 inches wide.

Fold each piece in two so the fold goes crosswise. Cut a neck hole in the center of the fold, about 10-11 inches across. That should leave 5 to 6 inches on each side of the hole to the edge of the fabric.

Tie a rope or other belt at the waist to hold the tunic in place. The tunic will go down almost to your knees.

This information has been given to your ward wardrobe specialist. Please contact her for help. If you have any questions, you may also call Linda Thornell (295-9306) or Chris Hale (292-2089).
